Combat boots, with toe caps & added cuffs
Combat boots aka 'buckle boots' introduced in 1943. These are actually early type rough out low boots size 10 B with toecaps that have the cuffs added to them. The reenforcing rivets below the eyelets are another indication of early production. The original cotton laces are present. Rough out boots with toecaps are very hard to find and this is a rare modification which is missing from most collections. The boots still have the maker's stamp which are however hard to read, but most likely have the 1943 date. The cuffs are size 10 EE and April 1944 dated. The rarity of these boots warrants a place in a collection. Very good condition.
