Varga Pin Up gatefold "Exit"

€70.00

Gatefold of the Esquire magazine of November 1940. Varga was announced in the September issue of Esquire (see last photo). This gatefold was his second appearance in Esquire magazine and is one of the hardest to find today. It is also without a doubt one of the sexiest, if not the sexiest Pin Up created by Varga. After these first appearances Varga was instructed by the Esquire to tone down his work. Alberto Vargas followed up George Petty as the Pin Up artist with Esquire magazine in 1941. His 'Varga-girls' soon became famous and his work was inspirational for nose-art on many planes. Varga created a series of Pin Ups which were presented in the magazine as 'Gatefolds' (fold out posters). Stunning artwork that was most popular among GI's! Verse by Phil Stack. Size is approximately 45 x 35.5 centimeters. This will look awesome framed! Very good condition.
