Wooden toys made by Wood Commodities Corp. Typical wartime when toys were no longer made of steel, which was all preserved for the war industry. The barge measures about 28 centimeters. It sits on two rollers and the ramp can come down with a lever on the inside. The two deck guns are present, although the cardboard shields on both are cracked and folded (this can probably be adjusted). As of 1943 Wood Commodities Corp. produced four military toys, a tank, a jeep, a howitzer and this landing barge with tank. These toys were produced in two colors, OD green and red. This barge and tank have the original OD green paint. The set was definitely played with but is still in nice shape. Because of their fragile nature these wooden toys are very hard to find today. Awesome wartime item that is very nice for the collection. Also see photos of wartime advertisement and complete collection of these toys. Very good condition.
