Petty Pin Up gatefold Lady with Orchids

€80.00

Gatefold of Esquire magazine of December 1939. George Petty was the predecessor of Varga with Esquire magazine. His 'Petty-girls' soon became famous and his work was inspirational for nose-art on many planes. He also did a lot of artwork for advertisements. This is the first large format double fold Pin Up Petty made for Esquire. It measures about 73.5 x 35 centimeters. There is the fold on the the right side if the poster. The left side however is actually a split that was taped together. This was were the poster was attached to the magazine. During 1940 and 1941 Petty created many Pin Ups for Esquire magazine. Stunning artwork that was most popular among GI's. This will look awesome framed! Very good condition.
