48 star burial flag. Original 48 star flag of sewn construction that once covered the casket of a soldier during his burial. It seems the flag has always been in its triangle shape. For integrity reasons it was kept like this and not folded open to make photos. It measures 5 x 9½ feet (about 150 x 300 centimeters) and can be identified as an Army issue flag by the Philadelphia Quartermaster stamp and steel rings that are riveted to the hoist. Also see photo of a page from the manual FM 21-50 Military Courtesy and Discipline. Poignant relic that will make a sobering display. Very good condition.
