C ration crate

Wooden C ration crate that contained 8 rations = 48 cans. There were 8 cans with Meat & Beans, 8 cans with Vegetable Stew, 8 can with Vegetable Hash & 24 cans bread unit. 6 cans made 3 meals for a day. Each meal consisted of a meat unit and a bread unit. The crate has markings on the sides but they are faint at the front and painted over on the log side. Interestingly however there are also markings on the inside. This was done when the crate was reused. There also seems to be faint markings on the bottom. The inside is clean. This crate was found in Normandy recently. Very good condition.
