Wooden C ration crate that contained 8 rations = 48 cans. There were 8 cans with Meat & Beans, 8 cans with Vegetable Stew, 8 can with Vegetable Hash & 24 cans bread unit. 6 cans made 3 meals for a day. Each meal consisted of a meat unit and a bread unit. This crate has no manufacturer's stamp or date but it does have an unusual addition of US with crescent stamp in green paint. The crate still has its top lid which makes it excellent for display as it looks virtually unopened. The bottom still half of its lid. This example comes from an old collection in Normandy. Very good condition.
