Aluminum matchbox holder made from the remains of a Zero airplane. It is marked Oro Bay, N.G. April 18, 1943' on the side, Carroll Keith Moffatt Major Infantry O-247758 on the front and Cap Zero R.A.A.F. Crash Boat on the back. The inside still has some greenish paint. On Oro Bay New Guinea was a US military base. The Japanese performed many attacks on Or Bay. Obviously the matchbox holder was handmade from a piece of a crashed Zero fighter plane. An empty matchbox is still in it. Neat piece of history with research potential. Very good condition.
