Ike jacket, 29th Division / SHAEF
OD wool field jacket aka 'Ike-jacket'. Size 44S and 1944 dated. The jacket has a SHAEF patch on the left sleeve and a 29th Division patch on the right sleeve indicating the GI served with the 29th. It has the laundry mark 6942 and initials CTF on the label. This corresponds with Charles T. Fletcher, ASN 34736942, who enlisted on June 17, 1943. Fletcher served H Company of the 116th Infantry Regiment, landed on Omaha Beach and was wounded on June 6, 1944. After his recovery he retuned to his unit in August only to be killed on November 26. How this jacket ties in with Fletcher is unclear and needs further research. The CIB has obviously been taken from the jacket. Very good condition.
